One of my favourite thing to do on a lazy Monday before work is to grab a coffee, something sweet, and go sit in the park with my book.
...Yes Historical fiction is an official genre.
Can you believe it but it's mid November and Edinburgh is still hitting the double digits? It's fast on it's way for being the warmest November on record! So for the meantime I can still enjoy my lazy Mondays without being confined to a crowded, smelly hostel for fear of bracing the winter cold outside!
Now, I have searched high and low for the best coffee in Edinburgh and one cafe has won hands down, despite the lack of seating or ambience. It's called Wellington Cafe (No I am not just being sentimental because I miss New Zealand, it really is the best coffee I've found).
It's a tiny little cafe down stairs on the corner of Hanover and George Street and the coffee is fabulous. They even have soy milk, which seems to be few and far between in cafes in Edinburgh.
Unfortunately they have nothing in the way of treats for us sweet toothed vegans, never fear though, Hendersons cafe is just down the street, a purely vegetarian and vegan bistro/shop/restuarant and they have a great selection to settle your cravings.
Today I picked a Belgian dark chocolate truffle cake with shortbread and succulant sultanas handcrafted by 'Lazy Day Foods', a Scotland based company.
I enjoyed it so much I have no photos to prove it was there except for a few crumbs that were quickly gobbled up by birds before I could reach for the camera, so you'll just have to go out and buy your own and see for yourself!!
